We meet the first Thursday each month at 7 p.m. through Google Meet.
We provide a peer- and expert-led monthly support group for those with mental-health labels and lived experence and their families and loved ones and we do work in the community to erase stigma around mental health.
How to Join a Meeting. We share the meeting link on our private Facebook group and our public Facebook page just before the meeting begins. If we have someone’s email and they consent to receiving meeting details that way, we will also email the meeting link to them. These precautions are to keep spammers from joining the meeting.
We approve each participant at the beginning of the meeting and check for late arrivals throughout the meeting. If nobody has arrived for the meeting by 7:30 p.m., we will close the meeting.
Meetings last one hour, with 15 minutes of flex time at the end. We will schedule in-person meetings based on demand.
Our Group Model. We start by introducing ourselves, then share one or two topics we’d like to discuss. The co-facilitators may also suggest topics that fall within the wellness wheel framework. We’ll get to as many topics as possible and will save topics for the next meeting if we run out of time.
After brief introductions, we have a directed discussion in which we encourage everyone to engage with the topics we’ve selected as a group. Sharing experiences, challenges, coping mechanisms, and strategies are all great ways to participate in the conversation. If you don’t want to speak during this time, no worries. Listening to the discussion is a form of participation.
